      ⏱ 3 h🚶 4.5 km🍽 1📍 7 stops
      🚶 Moderate — 3–7 km

Two metro stations opened in December 2025, and between them on foot along Stachek Avenue — the line where the front was stopped in autumn 1941: tram barricades, a KV-85 tank and a Putilov-workers' tractor.

        🏛 Yugo-Zapadnaya station
ул. Маршала Казакова / пр. Маршала Жукова
The terminus of the new brown line and the first metro station in the Krasnoselsky district: a hexagonal vestibule, white marble and a stained-glass window with northern nature.
Ride from Kirovsky Zavod, changing for Putilovskaya — two stations of the new line. Look at the stained glass above the escalators and the hexagonal hall; exit onto Marshala Kazakova Street.

        • Opened on 26 December 2025; the stretch to Putilovskaya, at 2.6 km, is the shortest opening section in the history of the Petersburg metro.
        • In Soviet plans the station was called “Ulitsa Marshala Kazakova”, then “Kazakovskaya”.
        • The vestibule occupies the ground floor of a hexagonal five-storey metro building with a glass dome.
        • Above the escalators is a stained-glass window with motifs of the northern nature around Petersburg.
        • The next stations on the line — Bronevaya, Zastavskaya, Borovaya and Karetnaya — will not come before 2030.

🏛 “Heroes of the Narva Gate” Monument
        пр. Стачек у Кронштадтской пл.
A memorial on Prospekt Stachek by Kronshtadtskaya Square — the start of a walk along the line where the front was stopped in autumn 1941.
About a kilometer along Marshala Kazakova to Stachek Avenue — the former Peterhof Highway. From here we head toward the center along the line of defense.
        📖 More about the placeCollapse
        • The inscription reads: “To the heroes of the Narva Gate, who suffered through victory in battle and stepped with it into immortality”.
        • Prospekt Stachek here is the former Peterhof Highway, along which the defence line ran in 1941.
        • The line in the Kirovsky district where the offensive was stopped in September 1941 is marked by the memorials of the “Kirov Rampart” as part of the “Green Belt of Glory”.

A marker on the spot where in September 1941 the Peterhof Highway was blocked with tram cars against German tanks.

        • The inscription reads: “Here in September 1941 the Peterhof Highway was blocked with tram cars to defend Leningrad from fascist tanks”.
        • From here it is about 250 m to the KV-85 tank in Leningradsky Square — a pillbox survives there too.
        • The memorials of this line are united in the “Kirov Rampart” complex: it was built by the working people of the Kirovsky district.

        пр. Стачек, у д. 106
A KV-85 heavy tank on a pedestal on the 1941–44 defence line, where the front lay 4 km from the Kirov Plant.

        • The pedestal carries a KV-85 heavy tank built at the Kirov Plant in Chelyabinsk — one of only two survivors.
        • The monument was erected in 1951 on the proposal of the designer Zhozef Kotin and to a design by the architect V. A. Kamensky.
        • Behind the tank survives a pillbox where tank-destroyer units of the 42nd Army held the line.
        • In 1945 a Triumphal Arch stood nearby: on 8 July troops returning from the front were welcomed here.
        • Since 2020 the square with the tank has been called Leningradsky.

        🏛 Fordson-Putilovets Tractor Monument
        ул. Червонного Казачества
A metal sculpture of the first mass-produced Soviet tractor, which the Putilov workers nicknamed “Fyodor Petrovich”.
Turn onto Chervonnogo Kazachestva Street and you'll find the tractor with which Soviet tractor-building began at the Putilov Works.
        📖 More about the placeCollapse
        • The tractor was produced at the Krasny Putilovets plant in 1924–1932 under a Ford licence.
        • The model was the American Fordson-F.
        • In everyday speech the “Fordson-Putilovets” was called “Fyodor Petrovich” — from the letters F.P.
        • The kerosene engine produced only 20 horsepower, and without fenders over the wheels the tractor splashed the driver with mud.

A new station on the brown line with panels about the history of the Putilov Plant and platform screen doors — opened in December 2025.
The finale at the lobby on Vasi Alekseyeva Street: yellow wavy panels and a panel-tunnel at the entrance, inside a panel about the factory's foundry work. Nearby are the Kirov Works gatehouse and the Putilov monument.

        • Opened on 26 December 2025 together with Yugo-Zapadnaya — the first stage of the Krasnoselsko-Kalininskaya line.
        • The transfer to Kirovsky Zavod made it the first interchange outside the centre.
        • The escalator tunnel is framed with panels about the plant's machine-building, iron-casting and art-casting works.
        • On the platform are doors that, for the first time in the city, do not reach the vault — they are about 4 m high.
        • The walls are faced with “Ice Tundra” amphibolite, and the columns continue towards the centre of the vault.
