      🖼 Kolomna Pastila Museum

      Коломна, Посадская ул., 13А

A museum in an old merchant house where the forgotten recipe for Kolomna apple pastila (a fruit confection) was revived.

      • The museum opened on 24 January 2009; its second name is the "Museum of Vanished Taste".
      • It occupies a wing of the old Suranov merchant estate.
      • The project's authors are Natalia Nikitina and Yelena Dmitrieva; the museum was conceived as social entrepreneurship.
      • Three kinds of pastila are made here: airy with egg white, airy without egg white, and dense.
      • The museum's own factory works in the building of merchant Pyotr Chuprikov's "Confectionery and Pastila Establishment"; by 2011 it made 26 varieties.
      • The whole "City-Museum" cluster began with pastila: thanks to it, tourist traffic to Kolomna tripled.
