      • The station received its first passengers on 17 November 1866, when the line to Serpukhov opened.
      • In 1896–1935 the station was called Kursko-Nizhegorodsky: trains of the closed Nizhegorodsky station were moved here.
      • The reconstruction of 1968–1972 was led by the architect Georgy Voloshinov; by his account, he was inspired by Rome's Termini station.
      • The 200-metre glazed facade is divided by aluminium frames, and the folded roof overhangs as a 9-metre canopy.
      • The young architects wanted to leave the concrete raw, but Moscow's chief architect Posokhin ordered the building to be faced with marble.
