🏛 Nikolaevsky Home for the Poor

      • The Merchants' Society almshouse on this site (1831) was the first large stone building on Rasstannaya Street.
      • Its residents saw their dead neighbours off from Rasstannaya to Volkovo Cemetery — the "Almshouse Rows" there are among the oldest.
      • In 1905–1908 the building was rebuilt by the architect brothers Kosyakov.
      • The hospital attached to the home, at the corner of Tambovskaya, was built in 1890–1891 by V. I. Barankeev.
      • The school attached to the home at Tambovskaya 80 was built in 1913–1914 by Fyodor Lidval.
