        • Its residents saw their dead neighbours off from Rasstannaya to Volkovo Cemetery — the "Almshouse Rows" there are among the oldest.
        • In 1905–1908 the building was rebuilt by the architect brothers Kosyakov.
        • The hospital attached to the home, at the corner of Tambovskaya, was built in 1890–1891 by V. I. Barankeev.

        • It all began with a free canteen for 50 workers' children that Countess Sofia Panina opened on Ligovka in 1891.
        • The Art Nouveau building was built in 1901–1904 to a design by Julius Benois.
        • The tower housed Russia's first public observatory, and also a water tank in case of fire.
        • Lectures here were given by Genrikh Graftio, Alexander Karpinsky and Vladimir Vernadsky.
        • Lenin spoke in the building on 9 May 1906 — a memorial plaque recalls this.
        • At the turn of 1909–1910 the First Congress of Teetotallers, with Bekhterev taking part, was held here.

        • The first bridges were built in the 1840s for the St Petersburg–Moscow railway; the work was led by the American engineer Whistler.
        • The bridge was nicknamed "American" for its American design; the name later passed to the neighbouring ones.
        • The wooden bridges were replaced with metal ones in 1888–1889.
        • Until 31 December 2008 all five bridges were officially called the Nikolaevsky Railway Bridge.
        • The reconstruction of 2006–2012 cost 4.5 billion roubles; on 25 December 2012 embankments under the bridges were opened.
