      🏛 Memorial to the Sailors of Battery "A"

      A monument to the sailors of the Aurora, whose battery held the defence here in 1941; gun foundations are nearby.

      • The battery had nine 130-mm guns taken from the cruiser Aurora.
      • These guns were only fitted to the cruiser in 1923 — they took no part in the 1917 revolution.
      • The battery's original complement was 152 sailors and 12 officers.
      • The main battle came on 11 September 1941: most of the sailors and guns were lost then.
      • The memorial to the artillery sailors was unveiled in 1974.
