        • It was the main church of the summer military capital: the Romanovs from Catherine I to Nicholas II prayed here.
        • Among those who donated to its construction was Empress Anna Ioannovna.
        • In 1851–1854 the church was rebuilt and enlarged on the orders of Nicholas I, to a design by Alexander Rezanov.
        • Closed in 1938, the church served as a prison until the war.
        • In 1960 the building was given over to a House of Culture, with the dome and the upper tier of the bell tower demolished; they were restored in 1996–2003.
        • The spired bell tower rises about 32 metres.
        • The old big bell, weighing 2.68 tonnes, was cast in 1764; the present one in 2002.

        • The church was consecrated on 16 July 1890 in the presence of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich and Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna.
        • The wooden church in the "Russian style", for 500 people, was built with money from the merchant A. F. Cherepennikov.
        • Parishioners included staff of the military hospital and garrison, as well as residents of the Kolomenskaya and Fabrichnaya settlements.
        • In occupied Krasnoye Selo in 1942 the Germans allowed the church to open; it survived the war undamaged.
        • In 1947 a three-tiered iconostasis with gilded Royal Doors was moved here from the church in Taitsy.
        • The restoration strengthened the foundation and walls and recreated the lost domes with crosses.

        • From 1765, by Catherine II's will, large Guards manoeuvres were held in Krasnoye Selo.
        • After 1819 Alexander I acquired Krasnoye Selo — which began the heyday of the summer military capital.
        • From 1823 Krasnoye Selo became the permanent site of the Guards Corps' summer camp.
        • The unnamed lake is man-made: it appeared after the mill dam on the Dudergofka was built in 1709.

        • The hill is a moraine mound piled up by the edge of the last glacier.
        • In clear weather you can see 30–40 km from the top, including Petersburg's southern districts.
        • In September 1941 the Germans took the hill and turned it into a stronghold for shelling the city.
        • In the 18th century Voronya and Orekhovaya hills were not distinguished and were called a single Dudorova Hill.
        • The slopes preserve relict hazel thickets and pines 100–150 years old.

        • Together with Voronya Gora and Kirchhof hill, it forms the Dudergof Heights — a natural monument.
        • The northern slope of Orekhovaya Gora is steeper than 35° in places — almost like real mountains.
        • On the Dudergof Heights snow falls earlier and lies longer than on the surrounding plain.
        • In some atlases the names of Orekhovaya and Voronya hills are mixed up.

        • The battery had nine 130-mm guns taken from the cruiser Aurora.
        • These guns were only fitted to the cruiser in 1923 — they took no part in the 1917 revolution.
        • The battery's original complement was 152 sailors and 12 officers.
        • The main battle came on 11 September 1941: most of the sailors and guns were lost then.
        • The memorial to the artillery sailors was unveiled in 1974.

        • Fundraising for the hospital began in 1899, despite protests from summer residents about having such a neighbour.
        • The hospital was laid down on 19 July 1900 and consecrated on 2 August 1902.
        • All the façades are different, and at the junction of the volumes stands a round stair tower with "loophole" windows.
        • The walls are faced with light-yellow brick, and the plinth is built of split red-grey stone.
        • Higher up the slope stood the Church of St Olga (1879–1883), which has not survived.
        • Since 1979 the building has housed the ski base of a youth sports school.
