      • The Savyolovo line was initiated by Savva Mamontov; construction of the roughly 130 km railway from Moscow to the village of Savyolovo began in 1897.
      • The station itself was built in 1897–1902, and the first trains to Savyolovo left from Yaroslavsky Station.
      • The site by Butyrskaya Zastava was chosen outside the Moscow of that time, where land was cheaper.
      • The 30 m water tower from the steam-engine era is the station's only historic structure to survive intact.
      • The reconstruction of 1987–1992 led by Ya. V. Shamray made the building two storeys tall and 2.5 times bigger.
      • Savyolovskaya metro station opened in 1988, making Savyolovsky the last Moscow station to get a metro connection.
