        • The name comes from "Kir and Ioannovo": on the day of Sts Cyrus and John, 28 June 1762, Catherine II ascended the throne.
        • The stone house was built in 1783–1784; the design is officially attributed to Quarenghi, but Dashkova named herself as the author.
        • "I even toiled alongside the masons," Dashkova wrote of the construction in her Memoirs.
        • The semicircular plan gave the house the nickname "Horseshoe"; legend says the empress's horse lost a shoe here.
        • In the 1970s the building was restored as a wedding palace, and since 2007 a branch of the Narvskaya Zastava Museum has worked in the wing.
        • The Western High-Speed Diameter runs right up against the estate.

        • The church took five years to build from 1901, funded by deductions from workers' wages — 2% of earnings.
        • The design is by the civil engineer Vasily Kosyakov; the church has two floors, the upper one consecrated to St Nicholas the Wonderworker.
        • In 1907 the remains of Nikolai Putilov were moved to the church crypt, although he had willed to be buried on Gladky Island.
        • In 1922 parishioners resisted the confiscation of church valuables with weapons in hand.
        • In 1925 the church was closed and rebuilt as a Constructivist-style club.

        • In 1911 the destroyer Novik was launched here — the fastest ship in the world at the time.
        • In 1924 the plant produced the first Soviet tractor, the Fordson-Putilovets.
        • On 17 December 1934, 16 days after Kirov's assassination, the plant was renamed after Kirov.
        • The monument to Putilov by the sculptor Konstantin Garapach was unveiled by the gate in October 2020.

        • The mass grave holds 152 victims of the flood of 7 November 1824 — mostly workers of the iron foundry.
        • The Kazan Church of 1901 burned down before the war; the present one, built of foam concrete, was consecrated in 2001.

        • The pedestal carries a KV-85 heavy tank built at the Kirov Plant in Chelyabinsk — one of only two survivors.
        • The monument was erected in 1951 on the proposal of the designer Zhozef Kotin and to a design by the architect V. A. Kamensky.
        • Behind the tank survives a pillbox where tank-destroyer units of the 42nd Army held the line.
        • In 1945 a Triumphal Arch stood nearby: on 8 July troops returning from the front were welcomed here.
        • Since 2020 the square with the tank has been called Leningradsky.

        • In the early 18th century these lands belonged to Tsarevna Natalya Alekseyevna, Peter I's younger sister.
        • The main house is square in plan, with eight projecting porticoes on Composite-order columns.
        • The park was named by the last pre-revolutionary owner, Alexander Dmitrievich Sheremetev.
        • The landscape park was laid out in the mid-19th century under the Sheremetevs; among its authors was the architect Nikolai Benois.
        • After the revolution the house became residential, and the state hall was for a time used as a pigsty.
        • In the war the estate was on the front line of Leningrad's defence and was destroyed; the house was rebuilt in the 1960s to a design by M. M. Plotnikov.
        • Today a children's art school works in the main house.
        • Films shot here include Doctor Kalyuzhny (1939) with Raikin and Zheimo, the horror film Blood Drinkers and the series Poor Nastya.
