        • It is the earliest surviving building in Strelna — a wooden palace for Peter I's stops on the way to Kronstadt.
        • Peter dreamed of a "Northern Versailles" in Strelna, but water would not flow by gravity to the fountains here, so the residence was moved to Peterhof.
        • Nearby, a secret galley dock 425 m long and 200 m wide was dug.
        • In 1722 Peter gave the palace to his daughter Elizabeth, and in 1749–1750 Rastrelli put a stone foundation under it.
        • After the revolution the palace housed a maternity hospital, and it was only finally handed to Peterhof in 1987.

        • Peter I had his eye on this place as early as 1709, planning a residence that would surpass Versailles.
        • In 1797 Paul I gave the estate to his son Konstantin — hence the palace's name.
        • The historian Vladimir Kurbatov called Strelna the "palace of the sea tsar" as a counterpart to Versailles.
        • In the war only a stone shell was left of the palace; from 1955 the Arctic Naval School worked here for 45 years.
        • The restored palace opened on 30–31 May 2003, and in 2006 and 2013 it hosted the G8 and G20 summits.
        • On 25 July 2015 the draw for the qualifying tournament of the 2018 World Cup was held in the palace.

        • Work on the park began in 1715 to Peter I's design; plans were drawn up by Rastrelli the elder, Le Blond and Michetti.
        • The Lower Park is a "water garden": canals cross at right angles, and the middle one runs along the palace axis and loops around Peter Island.
        • In 1719–1720 the Strelka river was diverted into a canal, and the old riverbed was turned into fish-breeding ponds.
        • The Port Canal once had locks, a flour mill and a sawmill.
        • Trek Meadow with its riding paths was laid out in the second half of the 19th century on the site of the dried-up American Pond.

        • The 15-ha garden was laid out under Peter I, and at first vegetables were grown in it — it served as a kitchen garden.
        • The first plan of the garden, whose basis survives, was drawn up in 1716 with the participation of the architect Braunstein.
        • The garden was made ceremonial by the fountains of 1733–1739; the first was the “Oak” (1734), with a lead oak in the centre.
        • The “Mezheumny” (“Undecided”) fountain is so named because its sculptures were changed many times; now it has a winged dragon.
        • During the 2020–2024 restoration almost 90% of the trees were replaced: 7,200 of 8,400 were brought from European nurseries.

        • The cascade was conceived as a triumphal monument to the victory in the Great Northern War; its facade is over 40 m long.
        • Construction of the cascade began in spring 1715, and it was launched in August 1723, before the works were finished.
        • The group “Samson Tearing Open the Lion's Jaws” has stood in the basin since 1735; it is thought to allude to Poltava, won on St Samson's day.
        • The original “Samson” of 1801 by Kozlovsky was lost in the war; the statue was recreated in 1947 by Simonov and Mikhailov.
        • The cascade is decorated with 37 gilded bronze statues; their restoration ran from 2010 to April 2012.

        • The park of about 102 ha stretches 2.5 km along the gulf and is only about 500 m wide.
        • The layout was drawn by Braunstein in 1710–1711, and in 1717 Le Blond presented the “Water Plan” of the fountains.
        • The “Divanchiki” (Little Sofas) trick fountain of 1721–1723 is the oldest of Peterhof's trick fountains.
        • The marble colonnades of 1800–1803 earned the former serf Andrey Voronikhin the title of architect.
        • The “Roman Fountains” appeared in 1739 and were wooden, with lead-lined basins.

        • The name means “my pleasure” in French.
        • The palace was founded on 17 May 1714 right at the water's edge; Peter I chose the site and layout himself, and the design was by Braunstein.
        • Peter often stayed here and received foreign ambassadors; he last came in October 1724.
        • The floors of the 22-metre galleries are laid the Dutch way, as a chessboard of white and black marble.
        • The palace keeps Peter I's personal belongings and a collection of Chinese porcelain and Dutch faience.
        • The interiors ravaged in the war were recreated from 1951 to 1978.
