        • Repin bought the plot in 1899 in the name of his second wife Natalia Nordman, lived here for 30 years and died in 1930.
        • The estate is named after the Roman gods of the household hearth — their images are on the gates, painted from Repin's drawing.
        • Gorky, Chukovsky, Mayakovsky, Yesenin, Kuprin and Glazunov came to the "Repin Wednesdays".
        • In the summer of 1905, on the winter veranda, Repin painted a double portrait of Gorky and Maria Andreyeva.
        • In the study with its semicircular glass wall, Repin wrote his memoirs, Far and Close.
        • The dining table with a revolving centre was recreated from drawings in the Russian Museum archive.
        • In the war the house burned to the ground; it was rebuilt from the foundation and photographs, with the interiors as of 1905–1912.

        • The Litfond gave Akhmatova this little house in 1955, and she herself nicknamed it the "Budka" (the Booth).
        • Visitors included Dmitry Likhachev, Lydia Chukovskaya, Faina Ranevskaya and Nathan Altman.
        • Young poets came here — Anatoly Nayman, Yevgeny Rein, Dmitry Bobyshev and Joseph Brodsky.
        • The dacha was restored in 2004.
        • Every June, on the weekend closest to Akhmatova's birthday (25 June), memorial evenings are held at the "Budka" doorstep.

        Akhmatova’s grave
        📖 More about the placeCollapse
        • The oldest grave is that of the composer Vladimir Savinsky (1867–1915).
        • The cemetery got its name in 1948, when the settlement of Kellomäki was renamed Komarovo.
        • Since the 1950s scientists, writers and performers have been buried here — more than two hundred graves make up the "Komarovo necropolis".
        • Anna Akhmatova was buried here on 10 March 1966.
        • The wall on Akhmatova's grave was built by her son Lev Gumilyov with students — as a symbol of the wall of the Kresty prison, where his mother stood with parcels.
