      • The garden opened on 6 May 1885 as the Greek Square — after Grecheskiy Avenue and the Greek church nearby.
      • The garden's second old name was Prudki ("Little Ponds"): here were basins of the Ligovsky Canal, which in the 18th century supplied water to the Summer Garden's fountains; they were filled in in 1891.
      • In 1922 a bust of Nekrasov was placed in the garden, and it became the Nekrasov Garden; the present 3.4 m monument to the poet is by L. Yu. Eidlin, 1971.
      • At the exit toward the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall, a monument to Ioannis Kapodistrias was erected in 2003 — a gift from Greece for Petersburg's 300th anniversary.
