      🏛 Komarovo Cemetery (Akhmatova's grave)

      Санкт-Петербург, Комарово, Комаровское кладбище

A pine cemetery where Anna Akhmatova, Dmitry Likhachev, Zhores Alferov, Sergey Kuryokhin and Daniil Granin are buried.

      • The oldest grave is that of the composer Vladimir Savinsky (1867–1915).
      • The cemetery got its name in 1948, when the settlement of Kellomäki was renamed Komarovo.
      • Since the 1950s scientists, writers and performers have been buried here — more than two hundred graves make up the "Komarovo necropolis".
      • Anna Akhmatova was buried here on 10 March 1966.
      • The wall on Akhmatova's grave was built by her son Lev Gumilyov with students — as a symbol of the wall of the Kresty prison, where his mother stood with parcels.
