      • From 1800 Batovo belonged to the mother of the Decembrist poet Kondraty Ryleyev; he spent his childhood here.
      • The Decembrists Alexander Bestuzhev and Wilhelm Küchelbecker visited Ryleyev at Batovo.
      • The stele stands on the site of the Ryleyevs' wooden house; it was designed by architect Alexander Syomochkin.
      • Later the estate was owned by the Nabokovs, including the writer's grandmother Maria Ferdinandovna.
      • The manor house burned down in 1923; part of the park is all that remains of the estate.
