      🖼 Golden Khokhloma Museum Center

      A museum and tourist center at the Khokhloma Painting factory: Khokhloma of different years — from antique ladles to modern tableware.

      • The Khokhloma craft arose in the second half of the 17th century around Semyonov and the villages of Khokhloma and Skorobogatovskoye.
      • Turned spoon blanks (baklushi) and "chip" wares for painting were brought to Semyonov from the surrounding villages.
      • In 1916 the mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Dmitry Sirotkin, opened a school of artistic woodworking here with his own money.
