🏛 Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo estate main house

A pseudo-Gothic house rebuilt in the late 19th century, surrounded by an old park with ponds.

From 1664 the estate belonged for almost 250 years to the Streshnevs, the family of Tsarina Evdokia, wife of Mikhail Fyodorovich.
Rodion Streshnev was the "uncle" tutor of the young Peter the Great.
The turreted "castle" was the idea of the last owner, Princess Evgenia Shakhovskaya-Glebova-Streshneva, in the 1880s–1900s.
The obelisk by the house is topped with a dog not in memory of a pet: the dog is a figure from the Streshnev coat of arms.
In 1992 the house was badly damaged by fire and then stood abandoned for decades.
The restoration begun in 2022 was completed on 10 June 2026.
In 1925 "The Bear's Wedding" was filmed here, and in 1962 the estate's gates flashed by in "Seven Nursemaids".
