      • MMOMA opened on 15 December 1999, the first state museum of modern art in Russia.
      • Zurab Tsereteli bought the mansion with his own funds in 1995, and his collection of more than two thousand works became the core of the museum's holdings.
      • The mansion was built in 1793; from 1880 it housed a gymnasium attended by Valery Bryusov and the Bakhrushin brothers.
      • Inside, the Neoclassical ceiling paintings, the grand staircase and the orchestra niche in the ballroom survive.
      • The collection includes Malevich, Chagall, Goncharova, Larionov, Kandinsky and a large collection of Niko Pirosmani.
      • The permanent collection numbers more than 12,000 works.
