🏛 Church of the "Assuage My Sorrows" Icon in Maryino

      Марьинский бул., 2

A church of 1999–2001 by the architect A. N. Obolensky — a large new church in the spirit of old Moscow architecture, rare for a residential district.

      • The parish appeared in 1995; its first meeting was held on 7 February, the feast of the "Assuage My Sorrows" icon — hence the church's dedication.
      • Patriarch Alexy II laid the foundation of the large church on 2 September 1999, and Patriarch Kirill performed the great consecration on 27 February 2011.
      • It is called the first church built in Moscow in the 21st century; the money was raised by the district administration, builders and residents.
      • The church's image is on the coat of arms and flag of the Maryino district.
