🏛 The "Lying Skyscraper" (NICEVT building)

      Варшавское ш., 125

The building of the Scientific Center of Electronic Computing, almost 736 m long: a design by Vsevolod Voskresensky, construction began in 1972.

      • The enterprise was born in 1948 as SKB-245, where in 1953 the "Strela" — the first Soviet mass-produced computer — was created.
      • NICEVT later became the lead developer of the Unified Series computers (ES EVM) for the USSR and Comecon countries.
      • Vsevolod Voskresensky designed the building inspired by a business trip to New York.
      • A tower section over 300 m tall was also planned, but only the seven-story horizontal building was built.
      • The building is slightly curved: it was meant to wrap around a podium that was later abandoned.
      • If you walk or drive along the facade, its ribs seem to shimmer.
