🏛 Lermontov Monument at Krasnye Vorota

      Лермонтовская пл.

A five-metre bronze Lermontov in a flowing greatcoat — near where the poet was born. You can see it in the film Gentlemen of Fortune.

      • The monument was unveiled in 1965; the sculptor was Isaac Brodsky.
      • The square was named Lermontovskaya in 1941: here, in the house opposite the Krasnye Vorota (Red Gate), the poet was born on the night of 3 October 1814.
      • The five-metre bronze figure stands on a four-metre granite pedestal.
      • The monument appears in a shot of the film Gentlemen of Fortune.
