      • The park grew out of the garden of Field Marshal Fyodor Golovin, laid out in the early 18th century, hence its first name, Golovin Garden.
      • Peter I bought the estate and charged his personal physician Nicolaas Bidloo with decorating the park with cascades, dams and sculptures.
      • Under Anna Ioannovna Rastrelli gave the park Versailles-like features, and contemporaries called it "Versailles on the Yauza".
      • According to legend, the Annenhof grove grew up in a single night: at the empress's whim, mature trees were brought here and planted.
      • In 1742 Elizabeth Petrovna opened the garden to the general public.
      • In 1904 the park was badly damaged by a hurricane.
