      • In 1474 the almost finished Dormition Cathedral collapsed after an earthquake, and Ivan III invited Aristotele Fioravanti from Italy.
      • Fioravanti built the new Dormition Cathedral in four years; Russian princes and tsars were crowned here.
      • The Archangel Cathedral holds 46 tombs and 54 burials, almost all the Moscow princes and tsars up to Peter I.
      • The Ivan the Great Bell Tower was erected in 1505 to a design by the Italian Bon Fryazin on the site of the Church of St John Climacus.
      • The Dormition belfry holds the working Dormition Bell, weighing more than 65 tonnes.
      • The Palace of Facets, with a throne hall resting on a single pillar, was laid down in 1487 by the Italian master Marco Fryazin.
      • In 1812 the retreating French blew up the belfry by Ivan the Great; it was restored in 1814–1815.
      • In 1990 the Kremlin, together with Red Square, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.
