Ushkovo and Zelenogorsk: pines and the bay

      ⏱ 9 h🚶 8 km + 🚆🚌🍽 2📍 6 stops
      🏃 A lot — over 7 km

A forest trail along the Ushkovo stream to the bay, along the sand to lunch with a view of the water, then the white Kazan Church and Zelenogorsk's Finnish kirche.

👶 With kids🌳 Parks and nature🚆 Out of town
      👶 3–6, 7–12 years · ✗ hard with a stroller

The trail along the stream is dirt and roots, and on the beach a stroller sinks in sand. With a stroller, better to go on to Zelenogorsk and walk along Lenin Avenue and Primorskoye Highway.

        • The stone church was laid down in 1910 in memory of the 200th anniversary of Peter the Great's capture of Vyborg.
        • The bell tower with its cross rises 49 metres; the bells weighed more than 9 tonnes, the main one about 5 tonnes.
        • The main altar was consecrated in 1915 by Archbishop Sergius — the future Patriarch of Moscow.
        • The icons for the iconostasis were painted by the artist Pavel Rozanov, brother of the famous philosopher.
        • In 1940 the bell tower was destroyed, and until the late 1980s the church served as a warehouse; in the 1970s it was saved from demolition by Leningrad's chief architect Gennady Buldakov.
