        🏛 Moskovsky Railway Station
        Невский пр., 85
Start in the station's main hall on the Vosstaniya Square side: Thon's building is a twin of the Leningradsky Station in Moscow. Go out onto Nevsky and turn onto Pushkinskaya.

🏛 Pushkin Monument on Pushkinskaya Street
Пушкинская ул., сквер у Лиговского пер.
The first Pushkin monument in Petersburg: Opekushin's bronze poet in a quiet garden in the middle of the street.
The square in the middle of Pushkinskaya is a quiet island a few steps from Nevsky. Then follow the street to Kuznechny Lane and turn left, toward Ligovsky.

        • The street was laid out in 1874 and named Kompaneyskaya — it was built by a company of property owners.
        • In 1881 Alexander III renamed it Pushkinskaya.
        • At first the garden held a plaster bust, then a copy of a bust by Ivan Vitali.
        • Alexander Opekushin's bronze statue was installed in 1884.

        🏛 Pertsov House
        Лиговский пр., 44
The biggest apartment building on Ligovka (1910–1912): Art Nouveau with chestnut leaves, satyrs and boys on the facade and courtyards deep into the block.
Look at the facade from the opposite side of Ligovsky: boys in chestnut leaves and satyr heads on the corners. The courtyards are closed with gates — peek into the archway, don't enter uninvited.

        • It was built “in the American manner”: 400 apartments, 18 lifts, telephones and a reading room for residents.
        • The design is by Sigizmund Galenzovsky with the participation of Ippolit Pretro.
        • The first hotel of 200 rooms went bust: guests could not sleep because of the carters from the Nikolaevsky Station.
        • In 1918 the Left Socialist-Revolutionaries had their headquarters here — it was stormed by cadets.
        • Ligovsky Prospekt was laid on the site of the filled-in Ligovsky Canal.

        🌳 San Galli Garden
        Лиговский пр., 62–64
A small park by the mansion of the “cast-iron king” Franz San Galli: a lacy cast-iron fence, lamps and portico columns — all cast at his plant.
Walk through the garden along the cast-iron fence and look at the mansion with cast-iron columns on its portico — all cast at the owner's factory. If the mansion is in scaffolding, the fence and lamps are still visible from Ligovsky.

        • Franz San Galli was called the cast-iron king of Petersburg: his plant stood right here on Ligovka.
        • San Galli is believed to have invented the cast-iron heating radiator in 1855.
        • According to one version, the mansion on Ligovsky was built by the architect Karl Rachau.
        • After the revolution the Bummash plant operated on the site of the foundry.

Across the road — coffee with pastry. It is two minutes from here to Ligovsky Prospekt metro.
🍴 A bakery-café of the Petersburg chain in the Etazhi building, right by Ligovsky Prospekt metro. What to order: a croissant or a rye roll, coffee, the soup of the day.
