        🏛 Lenfilm Studio
        Каменноостровский пр., 10
The country's oldest film studio: behind the fence on Kamennoostrovsky are the pavilions where “Chapaev”, “White Sun of the Desert” and “The Hound of the Baskervilles” were shot.
Leave Gorkovskaya and walk along the odd side of Kamennoostrovsky: the studio fence is a couple of minutes away. No entry without a tour, so we look at the facades and the sign.

        • The studio's history begins in 1918 with the Petrograd Film Committee.
        • In more than a hundred years, about 1,500 feature films have been made here.
        • Across four hectares are 10 buildings, four shooting stages, and a store of costumes and props.
        • Since 2025 the studio has belonged entirely to Petersburg.

If the walk is instead of lunch — khachapuri and khinkali right here, in house 14. It takes about 40 minutes in all; in a hurry, get just coffee and pkhali.
🍴 A Georgian restaurant with a homely atmosphere at the start of Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt, five minutes from Gorkovskaya metro. What to order: Adjarian khachapuri, khinkali (Georgian dumplings) with lamb, walnut kharcho, chkmeruli.

🏛 House of the Three Benois
        Каменноостровский пр., 26–28
A huge neoclassical apartment building of 1911–1912 with a ceremonial courtyard behind a granite colonnade — a city within a city with 12 courtyards.
Step into the open ceremonial courtyard behind the granite colonnade — that's the main view. Notice the gray-green Swedish stone of the facades.

        • The design is by Leonty, Julius and Albert Benois with the participation of the architect Gunst, hence the name.
        • When built, the house had 250 apartments, 25 main entrances and 12 courtyards.
        • The facades are clad in light-grey talcochlorite, brought specially from Sweden.
        • The entrance to the main courtyard is framed by a double Doric colonnade of red Hanko granite.
        • Sergey Kirov lived in one of the apartments — it is now a museum.

🏛 House of the Emir of Bukhara
        Каменноостровский пр., 44Б
An apartment building of 1913–1914 with facades in the spirit of Florentine palazzos, built for the Emir of Bukhara (designed by Stepan Krichinsky).
House 44B: light “Florentine” facades of Ural marble. Look from the opposite side of the avenue — that way you see the whole house.

        • The house was built in 1913–1914 on commission from the Emir of Bukhara for his son Sayyid Alim Khan; in fact, it is an apartment building.
        • The architect is Stepan Krichinsky, who also took part in building the Cathedral Mosque; the emir awarded him the Order of Noble Bukhara.
        • The facades in the spirit of Florentine palazzos are clad in dolomite marble from the Shishim deposit in the Urals.
        • Because of the First World War the balustrade was dropped, and some of the columns were made of wood instead of marble.
        • Krichinsky himself lived here, in flat No. 4, until 1923.
        • In 1993 the film “Kommunalka” was shot in the house; local legend says an underground passage leads from here to the mosque.

        🌳 Lopukhinsky Garden
Каменноостровский пр. / ул. Академика Павлова, у Малой Невки
A quiet landscape garden on the bank of the Malaya Nevka: ponds with little bridges, grottoes and the wooden dacha of the merchant Gromov, one of the oldest in the city.
Entrance from Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt. Walk around the ponds and find Gromov's wooden dacha with griffins by the porch. Then over Kamennoostrovsky Bridge — 15 minutes to Chyornaya Rechka.

        • The garden is named after Prince Pyotr Lopukhin, father of Paul I's favourite Anna — he owned the plot in the early 19th century.
        • In 1848 the patron Vasily Gromov bought the plot: his wooden dacha had a picture gallery, and penniless Conservatory students lived here for free.
        • Under Gromov, grottoes, fountains, gazebos and bridges over the ponds were built in the garden.
        • For several years residents fought off an apart-hotel development of the garden — in 2013 the plot was returned to the monument's boundaries.
        • Gromov's dacha was restored in 2016–2020, and marble sculptures were found in the cellar.
