🏛 Monument to the Krasnodon Heroes
        парк Екатерингоф, у Бумажного канала
The post-war “Oath” monument to the Young Guard in the eastern, ceremonial part of Yekateringof — with a rare surviving profile of Stalin.
From Narvskaya — 10 minutes on foot to the east part of the park by Bumazhny Canal. Find Stalin's profile on the monument — it survived here almost by a miracle.

        • It is a copy of the “Oath” monument in Krasnodon.
        • It was put up during the park's post-war improvement, when Yekateringof bore the name of the 30th Anniversary of the Komsomol.
        • The profile of Stalin on the monument is one of three surviving historic sculptural images of the General Secretary in Petersburg.
        • A café, rides and a boat station were also set up in this part of the park at the time.

        🌳 Yekateringof Park
        🚪 entrance from Perekopskaya Street
A landscape park with ponds, little bridges and islands on the site of Catherine I's country estate.
Walk around the ponds over the little bridges and look into the western, old and wilder part of the park — Catherine I's summer estate was here. In October the rides and boats no longer run — quiet and empty.

        • The name means "Catherine's court" in German: Catherine I's wooden palace appeared here in 1711.
        • On 6 May 1703, nearby at the mouth of the Neva, a detachment led by Peter I and Menshikov captured the Swedish ships Gedan and Astrild.
        • Peter's Palace stood for more than two hundred years and was dismantled for firewood in 1926.
        • In 1823 the park was redesigned at the initiative of Count Miloradovich, with pavilions designed by Auguste de Montferrand.
        • Yekateringof is mentioned in the novels Oblomov and The Idiot.
        • From 1948 the park was officially named after the 30th anniversary of the Komsomol.
