🏛 Levashovo Memorial Cemetery (Levashovskaya Wasteland)
        Горское ш., 135, Левашово
        🚪 entrance from Gorskoye Highway
A former execution ground of the 1937–1950s: a spruce forest with monuments and plaques put up by relatives, and a small museum at the entrance. The grounds are open in the daytime, until about 18:00.
From Udelnaya metro take a train from the neighbouring platform to Levashovo (about 25 minutes), then 25 minutes on foot from the station along Gorskoye Shosse. Look into the small museum at the entrance and walk the paths between the spruces. Arrive before 17:00

        • By various counts, between 19,450 and 46,771 people shot in 1937–1955 are buried here.
        • The site remained a secret KGB facility until April 1989, when a Memorial search group led by Valentin Muravsky found it.
        • The first memorial marker — a small granite boulder — was placed by Memorial activists in the centre of the site in July 1989.
        • There are monuments to victims of many peoples and faiths here: Finns, Jews, Norwegians, Estonians, Latvians, Italians, Tatars and others.
        • The names of those buried are almost unknown, so most personal plaques are cenotaphs, symbolic markers of memory.
        • In 2015 the memorial cemetery was granted cultural heritage status.

        🏛 Fabergé Dacha
        Песочное ш., 14, Осиновая Роща
The dacha of Agathon Fabergé, called the "Little Hermitage": the main house is under scaffolding, and the grounds are private. Sold at auction in 2026, so you can't get inside.
Look at the house from Pesochnoye Shosse: the grounds are private and guarded, and it’s dangerous inside

        • Carl Fabergé bought the plot on Dibunskaya Road from Count Levashov in 1883 (other sources say 1882).
        • Karl Schmidt built the first wooden house in 1901–1902, and in 1908–1910 Ivan Halnbeck turned it into a stone Art Nouveau mansion.
        • The dacha got the nickname "Little Hermitage" for Agathon Fabergé's collection: tapestries, porcelain, Japanese swords, netsuke and 300 Buddha figurines.
        • In 1919 the dacha was looted by Red Army soldiers: a monument-protection report said all the paintings had been pierced with bayonets.
        • In the First World War the Fabergés gave the dacha over as a sanatorium for the wounded, and during the Siege a hospital worked here.

        • In May 1778 Catherine II stayed here at Potemkin's villa and wrote about the manor to Baron Grimm.
        • The wooden manor house was built in 1828–1830 by the architect V. I. Beretti for Princess Lopukhina; it burned down on 4 April 1991.
        • In the early 20th century the estate had a zoo where animals roamed free, including Prince Vyazemsky's tame lion.
        • Since 1990 the estate has been under UNESCO protection as part of the "Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg" site.
        • According to a 2024 study by Herzen University, Bannoye and Dvortsovoye lakes are in fact ponds, and little Bannoye is the deepest, at up to 17 m.

🏛 Earth Fortress — Osinovets Redoubt
        Голицынская ул., Осиновая Роща
A star-shaped earthwork built in the Russo-Swedish War of 1788–1790.
Walk along the ridge of the star-shaped rampart — from the top you can see the fortress’s shape; it’s unkempt inside
        📖 More about the placeCollapse
        • The redoubt is a star fort: a five-pointed star also surrounded by a ten-rayed rampart with a ditch.
        • According to 1997 measurements, the ramparts run about 650 m around the perimeter and rise 6.5 m.
        • The date of construction is disputed: the accepted version is 1789 on Catherine II's orders, but no construction documents have been found.
        • On Schubert's map of 1840 the fortification is labelled "Osinova Roshcha Fortress".
        • Catherine II gave the Osinovaya Roshcha manor to Potemkin in 1777; after his death in 1791 it passed to the treasury.
