        • The museum was Kolpino's first museum: it opened in 1967 at the Izhora Plant.
        • The plant grew out of a sawmill laid down in 1722 by decree of Peter the Great to saw ship timber.
        • In 1818 the Izhora Plant built Russia's first paddle-wheel warship with a steam engine — the Skory.
        • From the mid-19th century the Izhora Works became the main supplier of armour for the Russian fleet and coastal fortresses.
        • In October 1917 the plant sent 17 armoured cars to the Military Revolutionary Committee.
        • The museum has a military hall devoted to the Izhora Battalion, formed from the plant's workers in 1941.

        • Svobody Boulevard is the plant's main dam, built in 1805 on the instructions of Charles Gascoigne; until 1924 it was called "Plity".
        • The very first flood, in 1807, broke through the newly built main dam.
        • From 1903 to 1964 the plant's hydroelectric station worked at the main dam.
        • The monument to the soldiers of the Izhora Battalion opened in 1959: a wall of Pudost stone with polished red granite, architect M. A. Shepilevsky.
        • The battalion was assembled from plant workers and Kolpino residents in late August 1941 and fought its first battle on 4 September.
        • The battalion's best sniper, Nikolai Zaleysky, was credited with 115 enemy kills.

        • The present cathedral is new: it was built from 2003 to a design by Sergei Kryukov and consecrated on 19 December 2009.
        • The old 18th-century stone Trinity Cathedral stood elsewhere; it was closed in 1937, made into the Luch cinema and demolished in 1957–1958.
        • The 53-metre bell tower of the old cathedral was Kolpino's main landmark; Tsarskoselsky Avenue, today Lenin Avenue, was laid out along its axis.
        • In August 1941 the top of the old cathedral's bell tower was blown up by an NKVD special group.
        • Since 2013 the cathedral has held a copy of the wonderworking Kolpino icon of St Nicholas; the ancient icon itself vanished after 1937.
        • Nearby stands the wooden tent-roofed Church of St Nicholas of 1998 — services were held in it while the cathedral was being built.

        • The park occupies Chukhonka Island on the site of the village of Mokkolovo, mentioned as far back as the cadastre books of 1500.
        • The residents of Mokkolovo, ethnic Finns, were deported in spring 1942, and the village itself was razed in 1948.
        • The Izhora Pond is a man-made widening of the river, created by a dam for the needs of the Admiralty Izhora Works.
