        • The park was laid out at a mass volunteer work day on 7 October 1945 and opened on 30 July 1950, in honour of the naval victories of the Great Patriotic War.
        • The construction was led by the architect Alexander Nikolsky.
        • A triple lime avenue about 2 km long runs the whole length of the park from east to west, with an octagonal square and a fountain in the middle.
        • Bronze sculptures, “The Black Sea Sailor” and “The Girl Welcoming the Victors”, stand by the central square.
        • In the late 1940s the park covered 200 ha, and after the western part was built over in the 2010s its area shrank by almost half.
