🏛 Monument to the Sailors of the Polar Convoys
        сквер Полярных Конвоев, ул. Седова
Three bronze sailors — Soviet, British and American — on a ship's bow: a memorial to the Arctic convoys of 1941–1945.
From the metro along Prospekt Obukhovskoy Oborony and left onto Sedova Street. Walk around the group: each sailor has his own uniform — Soviet, British, American.

        • The monument was unveiled in 2014 — for the anniversary of the arrival in the USSR of the first Allied convoy, Dervish, in August 1941.
        • The authors are the Petersburg sculptors Yan Neiman and Georgy Lukyanov.
        • The idea belongs to the public organisation “Polar Convoy”.
        • The verses on the pedestal are carved in Russian and English.

🌳 Palevsky Garden and the Olga Berggolts Monument
        ул. Ольги Берггольц, Палевский сад
A bronze Olga Berggolts against a “ruined” wall with a radio antenna — opposite the house where the poet lived as a child.
The entrance to Palevsky Garden is from Olga Berggolts Street. Read the lines on the granite wall and find the radio antenna; her childhood home is across the road.

        • The monument was installed on 3 May 2015 and unveiled on 16 May — marking Berggolts's birthday in both the old and new style.
        • Behind the figure is a granite wall resembling a fragment of a house destroyed in the war; the monument is 5 metres high.
        • The radio antenna on the wall is a sign that during the Siege Berggolts read poems on Leningrad Radio.
        • The idea for the monument came from local historians of Nevskaya Zastava and staff of District Library No. 3.
        • At the opening a lilac of the “Olga Berggolts” variety was planted.

        🏛 Vazhe Lake Monastery Metochion
        ул. Крупской, 5
A big two-storey church of the early 20th century that stood for almost a century as a factory workshop, a military enlistment office and a court; services are held again in the lower church.
Across Tkachey Street to Krupskoy Street — Tkachey Garden is on the way. The big church is visible from the street; services are held in the lower church, and the upper floors held a court until recently.

        • The Petersburg metochion of the Karelian Vazhe Lake Monastery opened in 1895.
        • The stone church was laid in 1897 — in memory of the rescue of Alexander III and his family in the train crash at Borki.
        • The building was built by the engineer N. N. Nikonov in 1899–1903.
        • In 1929 the church was closed: there was a factory workshop, a military enlistment office and then a district court here.
        • Since August 2014 services have been held again in the lower Church of the Prophet Hosea.
