        🏛 “Pushkin Has Left” Square
        ул. Савушкина, 3
A park by Chyornaya Rechka metro with a bench on which Pushkin seems to have just left his cloak, top hat and a book.
A minute from the metro along Savushkina Street. On the bench lie a cloak, a top hat and a book: as if the poet had just stood up and gone off to his duel.
        📖 More about the placeCollapse
        • Pushkin himself is not in the composition — only the things he left behind.
        • The square opened on 6 June, the poet's birthday.
        • From here to the duel site it is about a kilometre to the north.

        🏛 Olga Berggolts Square
наб. Чёрной речки, 20 (во дворе)
The courtyard of a house on Chyornaya Rechka where Olga Berggolts lived for her last 16 years — a park in her name with a memorial stone.
8 minutes west along the Chernaya Rechka. The park is in the courtyard of No. 20, and the memorial stone stands by the path.
        📖 More about the placeCollapse
        • Berggolts lived here from 1959 until her death in 1975.
        • Her line “No one is forgotten and nothing is forgotten” is carved at the Piskaryovskoe Cemetery.
        • Throughout the Siege Berggolts read poems on Leningrad radio.
        • The park in the courtyard of building No. 20 is officially named after her.

        🏛 Pushkin's Duel Site
ул. Матроса Железняка / Коломяжский пр.
A 1937 obelisk at the site of the duel with d'Anthès in the forest park by the Chyornaya River.
15 minutes along the embankment and Kolomyazhsky Prospekt to the north. The obelisk is in a small park, with a stone nearby bearing a stanza from Lermontov's “Death of the Poet”.

        • Pushkin's duel with d'Anthès took place on 27 January (8 February) 1837 near the Komendantskaya Dacha.
        • The Pushkins themselves rented a dacha in this area in the summers of 1833 and 1835.
        • The exact spot is disputed: second Danzas pointed it out in 1858, but contemporaries thought he had the wrong side of the road.
        • In the 1930s a broken column stood here, and for the centenary of his death in 1937 it was replaced by an obelisk by Lapirov and Katonin.
        • The bronze bas-relief of the poet on the obelisk was made by the sculptor Matvei Manizer.

        • Granholm rebuilt Finnish Railway stations in stone.
        • The embankment was raised later and reached the second floor of the building.
        • The windows of the south facade are of about ten different types, deliberately arranged without order.
        • The building is an architectural monument.

↩️ Getting back: From Lanskaya platform — 8 minutes by suburban train to Finlyandsky Station; to Chyornaya Rechka on foot about 20 minutes.
