        • The park was laid out at a mass volunteer work day on 7 October 1945 and opened on 30 July 1950, in honour of the naval victories of the Great Patriotic War.
        • The construction was led by the architect Alexander Nikolsky.
        • A triple lime avenue about 2 km long runs the whole length of the park from east to west, with an octagonal square and a fountain in the middle.
        • Bronze sculptures, “The Black Sea Sailor” and “The Girl Welcoming the Victors”, stand by the central square.
        • In the late 1940s the park covered 200 ha, and after the western part was built over in the 2010s its area shrank by almost half.

        • The “Spaceship” design by the Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa won the competition in 2006.
        • The stadium stands on the site of the Kirov Stadium (1932–1950), demolished in 2006.
        • It was built from 2007 to 2016, and the budget over that time grew from 6.7 to 43.8 billion rubles.
        • The football pitch rolls out: the 9,840 m² of turf weighs about 7,000 tonnes.
        • The height to the roof is 75 m, and with the pylons 110 m.
        • On 16 December 2018 the Russia–Finland hockey match drew, according to the organisers, 81,000 spectators here — a European hockey record.
        • Matches of the 2017 Confederations Cup, the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2020, held in 2021, were played here.

        🌅 Yakhtenny Bridge
A pedestrian bridge with a view of Lakhta Center
The route's main shot: the sun sets into the bay, the WHSD on the right, Lakhta Center ahead. In October sunset is around 17:10–17:40; later it's also beautiful — the tower and bridges in lights. It is windy on top.

        • This is Petersburg's longest and highest pedestrian bridge: the whole crossing is 940 m, and the bridge itself over the Bolshaya Nevka is 490 m.
        • The bridge was built at their own expense by five road construction companies and presented to the city; the main work ran from 25 February to 20 December 2016.
        • One version of the design was a covered two-level bridge with shops in the spirit of Florence's Ponte Vecchio, but no investor was found.
        • There are two viewing platforms on the bridge on the Neva Bay side.
