        • Dostoevsky lived here from October 1878 until his death on 28 January 1881, and wrote The Brothers Karamazov and his Pushkin speech here.
        • The writer had first briefly lived in this house back in 1846.
        • The museum opened on 11 November 1971, on the 150th anniversary of Dostoevsky's birth.
        • The study is recreated from a photograph by Woldemar Taube, taken right after the writer's death in 1881.
        • The clock in the study belonged to the writer's younger brother Andrey Dostoevsky.
        • The one authentic item in the hallway is Dostoevsky's felt hat.
        • The exhibition is based on the collection of the writer's grandson, Andrey Fyodorovich Dostoevsky.

        • She first moved into the Fountain House in 1918, to the north wing, to live with her second husband Vladimir Shileyko.
        • The arch at the entrance from Liteyny is covered with poem-graffiti; when there are too many inscriptions, museum staff photograph and paint over them.
        • The collection has over 51,000 items, including a Modigliani drawing from 1911.

        • The museum opened in 1946 by decree of the USSR Council of Ministers.
        • The building belonged to the publisher Andrei Kraevsky; his former apartment is also part of the exhibition.

        • The “A Room and a Half” museum officially opened in May 2020; the architectural concept was developed by Alexander Brodsky.
        • The foundation bought four of the communal flat's five rooms; the last, unbought one was walled off from the museum with a temporary partition.
        • The Muruzi House was built in 1874–1877 in the neo-Moorish style; the inscription on the gate repeats the motto of the emirs of the Alhambra.
        • Dmitry Merezhkovsky and Zinaida Gippius lived in this house for 23 years.
        • In the early 1920s the Petrograd House of Poets worked here on Nikolay Gumilyov's initiative.

        • From September 1836 Pushkin rented the whole ground floor here, eleven rooms — "from one gate to the other", as the contract says.
        • In the study stands the authentic sofa on which the poet died on 29 January 1837.
        • In 2008 forensic experts found traces of blood on the sofa's leather that matched the blood on Pushkin's waistcoat and a lock of his hair.
        • The museum holds the waistcoat Pushkin wore at the duel and his death mask by the sculptor Samuil Halberg.
        • The first museum in the apartment opened on 13 February 1927.
        • In Natalya Nikolaevna's room hangs her portrait, painted by Alexander Bryullov in 1832.

        • The square appeared in 1738–1739 on a wasteland with hay warehouses; in 1952–1992 it was called Peace Square.
        • In June 1831 the cholera riot broke out on Sennaya: a crowd wrecked the cholera hospital.
        • Until the mid-19th century thieves and swindlers were publicly punished here — Nekrasov described these “market executions”.
        • The guardhouse building of 1818–1820 was built by Vikenty Beretti to a design by Luigi Rusca.
        • The Church of the Saviour on Sennaya was demolished in 1961, and a metro vestibule was built in its place.
        • Today three metro lines intersect under the square.

        • As in the novel, thirteen steps lead up to the attic of the house.
        • The wall carries two marble plaques marking the water level of the flood of 7 November 1824, in Russian and in German.
        • The bas-relief on the corner was unveiled on 7 July 1999, and the text on the plaque was composed by Dmitry Likhachev and Daniil Granin.
        • In 1970 the house was rebuilt: the semi-basement was removed and the cobbled courtyard was paved over with asphalt.
