        • It is the last and largest of the Russian Empire's naval cathedrals, a memorial to all sailors lost at sea.
        • It was built on Anchor Square, where old anchors used to be stored; Vasily Kosyakov's design was approved in 1901.
        • The dome was calculated to be tall enough to serve as a landmark from the sea.
        • The cathedral was consecrated on 10 (23) June 1913 in the presence of the emperor; construction cost 1,876,000 roubles.
        • In 1930 the bells and crosses were thrown down and the building became the Gorky cinema — known locally as "Maksimka".
        • The restoration, finished in 2013, kept the trace of an unexploded German bomb that had pierced the dome.
        • The first liturgy in 75 years was held here on 19 December 2005; since 2013 it has been the main church of the Russian Navy.

        • The park grew on the site of the 1752 Arsenal Square, where parades and reviews were held.
        • Governor Bellingshausen, appointed in 1839, began landscaping at his own expense; the formal park was laid out from 1859.
        • The monument to Peter I was cast in 1841 by Peter Clodt from a model by Théodore Jacques.
        • All pre-revolutionary Russian round-the-world voyages began from the Winter Pier by the park.
        • The pier holds the anchors of the boats that landed the Peterhof assault force on 5 October 1941.

        • Kronshlot, Kronstadt's first fort, was built in 1703–1704, and in summer 1704 its fire already stopped a Swedish squadron.
        • Fort Peter I was built in 1721–1724 to Peter's own plan.
        • 5,335 piles were driven under the foundation of Fort Alexander I; in 1845 it had 103 guns.
        • Fort Alexander I got the nickname "Plague Fort" after 1899, when a laboratory for anti-plague vaccines opened in it.
        • Fort Island Park opened to visitors on 8 August 2020.
