One of the country's oldest puppet theatres: daytime shows for children and evening ones for teens.

      • The theatre began on 16 May 1931 as the "Blue Screen" — the troupe had just three actors.
      • The theatre got the building at 10 Nekrasova Street in 1940 (other sources say 1938).
      • In the first Siege winter the actors staged a New Year show with a tree for children, and in February 1942 the theatre was evacuated to Novosibirsk.
      • Since 1954 the theatre has also staged shows for adults — the first was "The 1002nd Night".
      • The theatre has borne the name "Bolshoi Puppet Theatre" since 1955.
