      🏛 Architect Weitens' Dacha

      Лесная ул., 23, Ольгино

An Art Nouveau dacha from 1908 that the architect Andrei Weitens built for himself; the neighbouring house No. 21 (around 1910) is also his.

      • Andrei Weitens (1878–1940) built several dachas on Lesnaya Street — houses 19, 21 and 23 — in 1908–1910.
      • Korney Chukovsky lived at the dacha at 23 Lesnaya, where he finished his tale "The Giant Cockroach".
      • Weitens' sons Pyotr and Georgy also became architects.
      • In 1912 about 130 electric lamps were lit in Olgino, and water came from artesian "Abyssinian wells".
