🏛 Pillbox No. 204 of the Izhora Line

ул. Димитрова, 43А (площадка бывшего Радиоцентра, у парка Героев-Пожарных)

A museum in a 1943 pillbox — part of the Siege-era Izhora Line: a dugout, a bunker and trenches have been recreated nearby in the young woodland between Heroes-Firefighters Park and Sofiyskaya Street.

      • Pillbox no. 204 was built by October 1943 to the standard design no. 117.I of 1940.
      • The Izhora Line stretched for 20 km through Ugolnaya Harbour, Srednyaya Rogatka and Kupchino, and more than 2,000 people built it.
      • The line saw no fighting: the Germans never advanced as far as the city's built-up areas.
      • Nine of the line's pillboxes survive, all recognised as cultural heritage sites.
      • The museum in pillbox no. 204 opened on 18 January 2014 — the anniversary of the breaking of the Siege.
