      🏛 Glory Square: the Sormovo tanks

      A memorial by the plant: the first Soviet tank of 1920 and a T-34-85 — both built at Krasnoye Sormovo.

      • The composition of two tanks was unveiled on 9 May 1980, and the Eternal Flame was lit on 9 May 2020.
      • The first Soviet tank, "Fighter for Freedom Comrade Lenin", was produced in Sormovo in 1920.
      • The T-34-85 on the pedestal is also from Sormovo — the plant built these tanks during the war.
      • In 1904 the plant built Russia's first marine diesel tanker, the Vandal.
