      🏛 Transfiguration Monastery

      ул. Красной Милиции, 2, Арзамас

      A 16th-century monastery for men near Cathedral Square; the bell tower gives a view of the domes of the whole center.

      • The monastery was founded around 1555 on the shore of a lake and was subordinate directly to the metropolitans, and later to the patriarchs.
      • In 1927 it was closed, looted and badly damaged.
      • The Synod decided to revive the monastery on 20 April 2005.
