        • At first it held about 101,000 spectators on wooden benches.
        • Until 1992 the arena was called the Lenin Central Stadium; the monument to Lenin by Matvey Manizer has stood at the entrance since 1960.
        • The 1980 Olympic Games opened here on 19 July, and at the closing ceremony the image of the Olympic Bear Misha appeared in the stands.
        • On 21 May 2008 the first Champions League final in Russia was played here, Manchester United against Chelsea.
        • After the 2017 reconstruction the stadium holds 81,000 spectators, more than any other in Russia; it was the main arena of the 2018 World Cup.

        • The line has three stations and a height difference of 60 m; the equipment was made by Switzerland's Bartholet.
        • It runs 8-seat gondolas, and in winter 4-seat chairs are added on the second section.
        • Part of the route follows the line of a 1953 chairlift that served the Big Ski Jump; it was dismantled in 2016.

        • The Sparrow Hills were declared a natural monument in 1987 and a nature reserve in 1998.
        • It is Moscow's only protected natural area where a natural broadleaf forest survives so close to the centre.
        • The forest is mostly linden, oak, maple, birch and ash, whose roots hold the steep landslide slopes.
        • Long-eared owls, ravens and tawny owls live here, species from the Moscow Red Book.
        • The reserve has the Big and Small Andreyevsky Ponds, named after the neighbouring monastery.

        • The second-to-last chapter of The Master and Margarita is called "On the Sparrow Hills".
        • Downstream from the platform stands a memorial marking the oath of Herzen and Ogarev.

        • The building was built in four years: construction began in 1949, and by 1 September 1953 the university had its new building.
        • The first chief architect was Boris Iofan, but he was removed, and the project was completed by Lev Rudnev and his co-authors.
        • Iofan wanted to crown the tower with a huge statue, but in the end the building was finished with a spire and a star, like the other skyscrapers.
        • Until the 1990s the MSU main building was the tallest in Europe.
        • The dial of the tower clock is 8.74 m in diameter; as of 2014 it was the largest tower clock in Europe.
        • The parts of the spire were lifted through a temporary shaft inside the building, in which railway tracks were laid.
        • The building has 5,754 dormitory rooms for students and postgraduates and 184 flats.
        • The facade sculptures were made by Vera Mukhina's workshop; her proposal to put The Worker and Kolkhoz Woman in front of MSU was rejected.
