        • The name comes from the Nativity of the Virgin Convent, founded in 1386.
        • The boulevard, about 600 m long, was laid out in the 1820s; it descends steeply to Trubnaya Square.
        • In the house of the Fonvizin brothers (no. 12/8) it was decided in 1821 to dissolve the Union of Welfare, and in 1826 Decembrists were arrested there.
        • In the Rostopchina mansion (no. 14) in the 1840s writers gathered, among them Gogol and Fet.
        • A 1936 fire in a house on the boulevard formed the basis of Marshak's poem The Story of an Unknown Hero.
        • On 6 March 1953 a crush occurred on the boulevard and Trubnaya Square during the farewell to Stalin.
        • A tram ran along the boulevard from 1911 to 1971.

        • The monastery was founded in 1397 by Grand Prince Vasily I in memory of Moscow's deliverance from Tamerlane in 1395.
        • The name comes from sretenie, meaning "meeting": this is where Muscovites met the Vladimir Icon brought from Vladimir.
        • The Cathedral of the Presentation of the Vladimir Icon was built in 1679 under Feodor Alexeyevich, with murals from 1707.
        • In 1925 the monastery was closed, some buildings were demolished and the bells were sold to England.
        • The monastery was revived in the 1990s; from 1995 it was headed by Archimandrite Tikhon (Shevkunov).
        • The Church of the Resurrection of Christ and the New Martyrs, about 60 m tall, was consecrated by Patriarch Kirill on 25 May 2017.
        • The Sretensky Theological Seminary has operated at the monastery since 2002.

        • According to a popular version, the pond was called Pogany (Foul) because of butchers' waste, and in 1703 it was cleaned on Menshikov's orders.
        • Of several ponds, only one has survived to this day.
        • Nearby stands the Menshikov Tower of 1704–1707 by architect Ivan Zarudny; its top burned down after a lightning strike in 1723.
        • The monument to Griboyedov at the start of the boulevard was erected in 1959.
        • Since 1974 the Sovremennik Theatre has been housed in the building of the former Colosseum cinema of 1914.
        • The Annushka tram, route A, runs along the boulevard; in summer swans live on the pond.
