Sadovniki with a stroller: Riga Garden and playgrounds

      ⏱ 1 h 50 min🚶 2.9 km🍽 1📍 4 stops
      🐢 A little — under 3 km

A level park by Kashirskaya for a walk with a toddler: wide alleys, the spiral of the Riga Garden with pines and boulders, a playground and an Italian restaurant with a kids’ corner.

👶 With kids🌳 Parks and nature🏘 Off the centre⏱ An hour or so
      👶 under 3, 3–6 years · ✓ stroller-friendly

It’s easier to come to Kashirskaya on the Big Circle Line — the new stations have lifts. The park alleys are asphalt; in the Riga Garden the paving is partly pebbled — bumpy, but passable.

        🌳 Luzhkov Park (Sadovniki)
        пр-т Андропова, 58А
        🆓 free entry
A big flat park along Andropov Avenue: wide asphalt paths, several playgrounds, a skatepark and the Riga Garden in the centre — convenient for walking with a stroller.
From Kashirskaya it’s 5 minutes to the south entrance from Andropov Avenue. Go north along the main alley: the fountains are off in autumn, but the alleys are empty and level — good for getting a baby to sleep.

        • The park was laid out in 1989 on wasteland along Andropov Avenue.
        • Since 1999 it has been a natural complex and lies in the protection zone of the Kolomenskoye museum-reserve.
        • In 2014 the park was renewed: three playgrounds for different ages, courts and a fountain square appeared.
        • By the north entrance is a 2,750 m² concrete skatepark.
        • In September 2021 the park was named after Yuri Luzhkov, but locals still call it "Sadovniki".

🌳 Riga Garden in Sadovniki Park
парк имени Лужкова («Садовники»), центральная часть
        🆓 free entry
A Latvian-style garden in the middle of Sadovniki: a spiral of paths, boulders, pines, sea-pebble paving and lamps like those in Old Riga.
In the centre of the park. Walk the spiral of paths to the middle — kids like the “maze” and the boulders they can climb.
        📖 More about the placeCollapse
        • The garden was laid out in 2005–2006 under the project "Riga Garden in Moscow — Moscow Garden in Riga".
        • The project was done by Latvian specialists.
        • Over 5 hectares there are boulders, mast pines, paths of sea stones and stylised fences.
        • The paths form a spiral inscribed in an ellipse.
        • In the southern part, the paths echo the winding streets of Old Riga.

✨ Playground by the Riga Garden
парк имени Лужкова («Садовники»), к востоку от Рижского сада
        🆓 free entry
A playground with rubber surfacing next to the Riga Garden: slides, swings and climbing frames for toddlers and preschoolers.
Two minutes east of the Riga Garden, with a soft surface. The park’s playgrounds are split by age — for the smallest pick the one with low slides and a sandbox.
        📖 More about the placeCollapse
        • The playgrounds in Sadovniki were installed during the park's 2014 renewal — for different ages.
        • The equipment for them was made by a French company.
        • The Riga Garden is next door — you can alternate between the playground and a stroller walk.

Back along the alley beside Andropov Avenue, about 8 minutes. Windows on the park, a kids’ corner with a toy kitchen; on weekends at lunch better to book. From the restaurant to Kashirskaya is 10 minutes.
🍴 An Italian restaurant with panoramic windows over Sadovniki Park, across the avenue from the southern part of Kolomenskoye; a kids' menu and a kids' corner with a toy kitchen. Try: pizza, grilled Italian sausages, pasta, a marbled-beef burger.
