Three markets by metro: from Danilovsky to Depot

      ⏱ 4 h 30 min🚶 1.8 km + 🚇🍽 3📍 4 stops
      🐢 A little — under 3 km

Eating around Moscow almost without going outside: the concrete “daisy” of Danilovsky Market, the food hall on Trubnaya and the former tram depot by Belorusskaya, with the metro and the stained glass of Novoslobodskaya in between.

Breakfast: come at opening — at 8–9 a.m. it’s calm at the counters. Take a little of everything, since two more markets are ahead. And look up: the “daisy” dome was built in 1986.
🍴 A market under a concrete dome shaped like a daisy: food stalls and a food court. What to order: pho bo from the Vietnamese stalls, pies at Lyubov Pirogova, chudu and cornelian cherry lemonade at the Dagestani shop, vareniki (dumplings) at Lepim i Varim.
      2. 🚇 From Tulskaya to Tsvetnoy Bulvar with no changes, ≈12 min, then 5 minutes on foot

        🧺 Tsentralny Market

The second market is lunch. On weekdays after 14:00 there are more free seats, and in the evening there’s music here.
🍴 A food hall on Trubnaya: around fifty corners with cuisines from around the world, and music in the evenings. What to order: pho bo at PhoBo, tom yum at Tom Yam, pinsa at Pinzeria by Bontempi, khinkali (Georgian dumplings) at Gruziny Zdes.
      4. 🚇 From Tsvetnoy Bulvar 1 stop to Mendeleevskaya, change to Novoslobodskaya
      5. 3
        🏛 Novoslobodskaya metro station
A 1952 columned hall with 32 stained-glass panels in brass frames and Pavel Korin's mosaic "Peace in the Whole World" at the end.
On the way to Depot change at Mendeleevskaya and come out onto the Novoslobodskaya platform: 32 stained-glass panels in brass frames, lit from within.

        • This is the last metro station by Alexey Dushkin, which he made together with the young architect Alexey Strelkov.
        • The stained-glass panels were made in Riga by craftsmen of the Latvian branch of the USSR Art Fund.
        • Six medallions in the stained glass show an architect, a geographer, an artist, a power engineer, a musician and an agronomist.
        • The station lies at a depth of 40 meters.
        • The street-level vestibule resembles an ancient temple with a deep six-column portico.
        • The transfer to Mendeleevskaya opened in 1988; Novoslobodskaya was the last on the Circle line to get an interchange.

Dessert and dinner: 10 minutes along Lesnaya from Novoslobodskaya. The stalls under the depot’s old trusses are open until late, on weekends until 2 a.m.
🍴 A huge food hall in a former tram depot by Belorusskaya: dozens of food stalls and farmers' shops. What to order: crab shawarma at Kraby Kutaby, pasta at Makarony Kosmos, ramen at the ramen counter.
