The "Moscow Alps": a slope on soil heaped up in the 1980s during metro construction — skiing right in the city.
Watch the skiers from the foot of the slope; in winter you can rent equipment

        • The idea for the slope came from Kant's founder Grigory Ariyevich: the soil from the Nagornaya station construction was not hauled away but dumped in the neighboring ravine.
        • People have skied at Nagornaya since at least 1982.
        • By the end of the 1980s there were already two slopes here, no shorter than the Krylatskoye ones.
        • The Kant slopes descend to the bank of the Kotlovka river.

        • Buildings No. 60 and 64 were built in 1938–1948 — they are among the first brick residential buildings on Varshavka.
        • The "Spanish" nickname comes from the residents — Spanish communists who fled Franco's regime.
        • Varshavskoye Highway has been known since the 14th century as the Serpukhov road.
        • In the 1920s a tram line was run along Varshavka — to Verkhniye Kotly and the village of Kolomenskoye.
