        • The village was originally called Khovrino: by one version, from the nickname "Khovra" — "untidy" — of its 15th-century owner Georgy Safarin.
        • In 1700 Peter I granted Khovrino to Fyodor Golovin — the first knight of the Order of St Andrew.
        • In 1812 the estate was looted and burned by Napoleon's soldiers; it was then owned by Natalya Stolypina, sister of Lermontov's grandmother.
        • The estate got its name from the merchant Mitrofan Grachyov, who bought it in 1895; the present palace was built to a design by Lev Kekushev.
        • In 1918 the Grachyovs were evicted; later the place housed a tuberculosis clinic, a kumis-therapy facility, a military hospital and, since 1947, a physiotherapy hospital.
        • In 2020 a sign reading "Moscow's oldest tree" was hung on the old oak in the park — it was then counted as 432 years old.
        • In 1975 a monument was erected in the park to the soldiers who died in the military hospital at the estate and were buried here.

        • The church was commissioned by the factory owner Evgraf Molchanov, who bought the former Golovin estate in 1860; it was founded in 1868 and consecrated in 1871.
        • Molchanov died a year before the end of construction, and his widow took care of the interior decoration.
        • In a small church Bykovsky combined Moscow Baroque with the Italian Renaissance; contemporaries praised the mosaic floor and the marble iconostasis.
        • The church was closed in 1939; during the war there was a hospital here, and from 1960 the premises of a cooperative of the blind.
        • The church was returned to believers in 1991, and the upper Znamenie church has been active again since 1997.
        • One of the side chapels is consecrated in the name of the martyr Evgraf — namesake of the church's builder Evgraf Molchanov.
