        🚶 Simonovskaya Embankment
        Симоновская наб.
A new embankment by the RiverSky housing complex and the Torpedo stadium: the roadway is separated from the pedestrian zone, which runs right by the water.
Keep to the pedestrian zone right by the water — cars go separately. It's windy by the river, so bring a scarf

        • The first section opened in September 2026 — from Krutitskaya Embankment to the Torpedo stadium.
        • The embankment is divided into two parts: a road with 2–3 lanes each way and a separate pedestrian zone by the river.
        • It is named after the Simonov Monastery, whose towers stand a little to the south.
        • The next section is to reach Marc Chagall Embankment and ZILART.

Coffee break: a coffee shop in the courtyard of the RiverSky residential complex, 2 minutes from the embankment
🍴 A small coffee shop on the ground floor of the RiverSky complex, steps from the new embankment. What to order: a cappuccino or filter coffee to go and a pastry — and off along the river.

        Восточная ул., 4А
Home stadium of Torpedo — the ZIL factory team — on the bank of the Moskva; the new section of Simonovskaya Embankment ends at it.
The new stretch of the embankment ends at Torpedo Stadium — then turn onto Vostochnaya Street

        • Torpedo grew out of the football team of the AMO car plant, later ZIL.
        • The stadium has borne Eduard Streltsov's name since 1997.

🏛 Simonov Monastery: towers and wall
        Восточная ул., 4
What remains of one of Moscow's main fortress-monasteries: the south wall with the Dulo, Kuznechnaya and Solevaya towers. The rest was blown up in 1930 to make way for the ZIL Palace of Culture.
Walk along the wall on Vostochnaya Street: the corner Dulo Tower is the mightiest. The rest of the monastery stands in the courtyard of the ZIL Palace of Culture

        • The monastery was founded around 1370 by Fyodor, nephew and disciple of Sergius of Radonezh.
        • On 21 January 1930 most of the monastery, including its cathedrals, was blown up — the Vesnin brothers' ZIL Palace of Culture was built on the site.
        • The south wall with its towers — the corner Dulo, Kuznechnaya and Solevaya — and several buildings survived.
        • Karamzin placed the heroine of Poor Liza near the monastery; the pond under its walls was later called Liza's Pond.

🏛 Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in Staroye Simonovo
        Восточная ул., 6
A small white church from the early 16th century where, according to tradition, Peresvet and Oslyabya — the warrior monks and heroes of the Battle of Kulikovo — are buried.
If the church is open, look inside — there is the tombstone of Peresvet and Oslyabya

        • The first Simonov Monastery stood here; when the convent was moved higher up, the place was named Staroye Simonovo (Old Simonovo).
        • The stone church was built in 1509–1510 — one of the oldest in Moscow.
        • According to tradition, Alexander Peresvet and Andrei Oslyabya, who died on the Kulikovo Field in 1380, are buried by the church.
        • In Soviet times the church housed a factory compressor room; it was returned to the Church in the late 1980s.
