        • The Mariinsky Hospital for the Poor was built in the early 19th century to a design by Ivan Gilardi.
        • The writer's father worked here as a doctor, and Dostoevsky was born in the hospital's right wing in 1821.
        • Sergei Merkurov's monument was first put up on Tsvetnoy Boulevard in 1918 and moved here in 1936.
        • The flat where the family lived until 1837 is now a museum; we look at the building from outside.

        ул. Образцова, 11, стр. 1А
        🎟 ticket
A big interactive museum in Melnikov's Bakhmetevsky Garage: the history of Jews in Russia from the Pale of Settlement to today — with cinema halls, multimedia and reconstructions of a shtetl; the Avant-Garde Center is in the same building.
Walk along the whole facade on Obraztsova. Shukhov’s trusses can be seen only from inside — the Jewish Museum is there, check hours and tickets on its website

        • The museum opened in 2012 in the Bakhmetevsky bus garage of 1926–1927.
        • The garage was built by Konstantin Melnikov, and Vladimir Shukhov calculated the truss roofing.
        • The exhibition area is about 8,500 square metres, making it one of the largest Jewish museums in the world.
        • It starts with a 4D cinema, then goes in order: a shtetl street, the revolution, the Great Patriotic War and the present day.
        • The building houses the Avant-Garde Center, which shows art of the 1910s–1920s.

🏛 Church of the Joy of All Who Sorrow (Nechayannaya Radost) in Maryina Roshcha
        Шереметьевская ул., 33
A parish church from the early 20th century, one of the few in Moscow that were not closed in the Soviet years.
About 20 minutes north along Sheremetyevskaya. If the church is open, go in — inside is a prayerful parish church without museum gloss

        • Maryina Roshcha was long a Sheremetev holding next to their Ostankino estate.
        • The church of the "Unexpected Joy" icon (Nechayannaya Radost) was built in the early 20th century for the growing workers' settlement.
        • In Soviet times the church was never closed — services went on all the time.
        • According to legend, the district got its name from a robber woman, Maria, who plied her trade in the grove here.

Look for Sidur’s “Girl Combing Her Hair”, the park’s main work, and switch on the audio guide. Open around the clock, but better in daylight. Maryina Roshcha metro is 7 minutes away
        📖 More about the placeCollapse
        • The park opened in late September 2026 — a joint project of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and MR Group.
        • The central work is Vadim Sidur's "Girl Combing Her Hair" from the series "The Feminine", recreated from the author's sketches.
        • Also here are Aidan Salakhova's "Dark Side of the Moon" in Carrara marble and Alexander Povzner's "Swimming Pool" with a swimmer and a beluga.
        • The park also has Boris Cherskiy's "Elks", Igor Shelkovsky's "Bouquet", Sasha Frolova's "Cloud of Wishes" and the Tatarintsevs' blue "wheel".
        • There is an audio guide to the works; tours of part of the space are by registration.
