        🎟 ticket
The building on Krymsky Val with 20th-century Russian art, from the avant-garde to socialist realism and the Thaw.
Don’t do every hall: find together Reshetnikov’s “Failed Again” (let your child tell you what happened), Malevich’s “Black Square” and Kandinsky — and argue about why it’s art. An hour and a half is enough; closed on Monday

        🌳 Muzeon Art Park
A sculpture park on the embankment by Krymsky Bridge: Soviet monuments taken off their pedestals, and contemporary sculpture.
Right behind the museum is a sculpture park. Find the monument to Dzerzhinsky, taken down from Lubyanka Square in 1991, and play “guess who it is” at the Soviet monuments: the captions are on the plaques

        • The collection includes hundreds of sculptures, from Soviet leaders to contemporary art.

ул. Крымский Вал, 9 (Парк Горького, у Пионерского пруда)
A big themed children's playground by Pioneer Pond with separate zones for different ages.

        📖 More about the placeCollapse
        • The Salyut playground opened in 2018 — the park's 90th anniversary year.
        • It is called the country's biggest play complex: nine zones for play with sand, water, sound, color and shape.
        • The main attraction is the ellipsoid "mega swing" made of 29 swings.
        • There is a water mill and a dinosaur skeleton dig in the sand.
        • The children's theme here is long-standing: on the park's opening day, 12 August 1928, it already had a Children's Town and a nursery.

        • The present building opened on 12 June 2015; the Vremena Goda restaurant was designed by Igor Vinogradsky and Igor Pyatkin.
        • During the reconstruction OMA kept the mosaic of a red-haired girl in foliage, which became one of the museum's symbols.
        • It has hosted retrospectives of Mark Rothko, Louise Bourgeois and Marina Abramović, as well as Yayoi Kusama's first exhibitions in Russia.
        • The museum has a library of contemporary art, opened in 2014 as the first public one in Russia.
