        • The wooden kremlin was built in 1998–2007 from an idea by public figure Alexander Ushakov.
        • The tent-roofed Church of St Nicholas of Myra, opened in 2001 and 46 m tall, is one of the tallest wooden structures in Russia.
        • In 2005 a major fire destroyed many of the buildings; they were rebuilt, and a Palace of Russian Feasting and a Wedding Palace were added.
        • In the courtyards there are workshops of blacksmiths, potters, carvers and weavers, with workshops for visitors.

        • A spontaneous market appeared here in the late 1980s, and it received the status of a vernissage in 1991.
        • The market grew on a wasteland where construction of a hotel for the 1980 Olympics was begun and abandoned; its foundation pit was filled in.
        • In the mid-1990s the market was expanded with two-storey rows of stalls on 17 hectares.
        • In 1974 an authorised exhibition of avant-garde artists was held in Izmailovo, after the scandalous "Bulldozer Exhibition" in Belyayevo.

🍴 A tavern with Russian food on the grounds of the Izmailovo Kremlin (Mon–Fri 11:00–19:00, Sat–Sun 11:00–20:00); often busy with groups, so it is better to call ahead. What to order: Petrine shchi (cabbage soup), cutlets Petrovsky-style, roast with vegetables, a honey gingerbread with sbiten (a hot honey drink).

        • The island appeared in the 17th century, when the Robka River was dammed and the ring-shaped Silver-Vineyard Pond was formed.
        • The Bridge Tower was built in 1671–1679; under Peter I the Senate met in it, hence its second name, the Senate Tower.
        • In 1688 Peter I found a small boat in a barn of this estate's Flax Yard, the future "grandfather of the Russian fleet".
        • According to one version, Peter I was born in Izmailovo itself; it is firmly known that he spent most of his childhood here.
        • The Intercession Cathedral was built under Tsar Feodor Alexeyevich, who inherited Izmailovo in 1676.
        • Under Nicholas I a Military Almshouse was built here, designed by Konstantin Thon, and it was consecrated on 12 April 1849.
        • In 1998, for the 300th anniversary of the fleet, a monument to Peter I by Lev Kerbel was placed by the cathedral.
