      Pechatniki: the nurse, the Churilikha and Gaidar

      An hour and a half between Pechatniki and Volzhskaya: a monument to a front-line nurse on the site of a hospital, the Churilikha river in Shkulyov Park and Gaidar with pioneers.

        🏛 Monument to the Frontline Nurse

        A bronze nurse at the entrance to a district clinic — on the site where a hospital for the wounded operated during the war near Moscow.
        From Pechatniki metro, 7 minutes west along Guryanova Street. The monument stands at the entrance to the polyclinic.

        • The monument was unveiled on 2 September 2016.
        • During the war there was a hospital here to which the wounded were brought during the defence of Moscow.
        • The idea was proposed by the veteran Boris Malinin, a Kremlin cadet who was saved by a nurse.
        • The money was raised by 78 people and organisations; the sculptors are Valery and Natalya Nikiforov.

        🌳 Shkulyov Park and the Churilikha River

        A neighbourhood park on the site of the old Lyublino estate park, along the open channel of the Churilikha by Lyublinsky Pond.
        East along Shosseynaya and Lyublinskaya Streets to Shkulyov Park, 15 minutes. Then follow the path along the Churilikha to Lyublinsky Pond.

        • In the early 19th century the park's territory was part of the landscape park of N. A. Durasov's Lyublino estate.
        • The current 22.3-hectare park was created in 1995-1996.
        • It is named after Shkulyov Street, in honour of the poet Filipp Shkulyov, a native of the neighbouring village of Pechatniki.
        • The Churilikha flows from Perovo through Kuzminki to the Nishchenka; it has many names — Svistopol, Ponomarka, Goledyanka, Lyublinka.

        🏛 Monument to Arkady Gaidar

        A sculptural group from 1974: the writer talking with a boy and a girl by the former Palace of Pioneers.
        Leave the park toward the Palace of Creativity: the sculpture group stands in front of the building.

        • The monument was erected in 1974; the sculptor is A. P. Shlykov, the architect Yu. A. Movchan.
        • Gaidar stands full-height between the boy and the girl, looking at the boy he is talking to.
        • Arkady Gaidar served in the Red Army from the age of 14 and was killed in action in 1941 as a war correspondent.
